Scow Pain Scow Gain Fri 26th May 2000 16:26 James Scowcroft has undergone acupuncture in order to get himself fit for Monday's Wembley showdown. Scowcroft injured his hamstring in the second leg of the semi-final with Bolton and was thought almost certain to miss out. Now the suggestion is that he is 50/50 to make it to Wembley. |
Magilton Charged with Misconduct Thu 25th May 2000 14:49 Town midfielder Jim Magilton has been charged with misconduct by the FA after the incident prior to the Blues' second penalty. It has been reported that Magilton kicked Paul Warhurst while the Bolton player was attempting to deflect Magilton's attention away from the penalty he was about to take. Warhurst, Claus Jensen, Paul Ritchie, Gudni Bergsson and Michael Johansen have also all been charged by the FA after they had to be restrained by stewards whilst protesting the penalty. Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has also been reported for his post-match comments about the referee. All have fourteen days to respond. Bolton have said that they "will not be rushing into a response." |
Johnno Out Wed 17th May 2000 10:53 Town striker David Johnson is virtually certain to miss tonight's crunch game with Bolton Wanderers. The neck injury which saw him substituted in Sunday's disastrous first half an hour is still very sore, despite there being no breakage. |
More Transfer Rumours Tue 16th May 2000 11:25 This morning's papers contain more of the type of rumours we are set to expect throughout the summer. Charlton are apparently after Eidur Gudjohnsen and Mark Fish, but if there is no God and Bolton are promoted, Alan Curbishley will look to purchase David Johnson and James Scowcroft. All seems a bit far-fetched to me and could well just be a re-hash of old stories linking Charlton with Johnson and Scowcroft. |
Scowy and Stewart Probably OK Mon 08th May 2000 11:54 Town injury victims James Scowcroft and Marcus Stewart are likely to be fit for Sunday's play-off game at the Reebok Stadium with Bolton. Scowcroft was substituted near the end and had to have stitches on a wound below his knee. Stewart went off with a calf injury but neither injury is likely to be so bad that they are a doubt for Bolton. John McGreal and Fabian Wilnis are also under treatment, McGreal with his ankle injury and Wilnis with a groin strain. McGreal may be fit for Sunday whilst there doesn't seem to be any suggestion that Wilnis will be missing Sunday. |
2-0, But Play-Offs Again Sun 07th May 2000 20:26 Town easily defeated Walsall with two second half David Johnson goals, but fans returned home feeling less than ecstatic as Blackburn failed to beat Manchester City and catapult Town into the Premiership. Two play-offs with Bolton (yes Bolton again) await with the first away at the Reebok Stadium next Sunday afternoon. |
Town 0-1 Portsmouth Mon 06th Mar 2000 11:10 A litany of missed chances was the main reason for Town's long unbeaten run coming to an end at home to Portsmouth on Saturday. A Steve Claridge header in the first half saw the relegation threatened southerners go ahead and then successfully defend their lead. |
We're Still Waiting... Tue 25th Jan 2000 13:01 As yet there is no announcement on the rumoured huge transfer bid made by Town. |
Bolton 1-1 Town Mon 24th Jan 2000 18:12 A largley unexciting encounter at the Reebok Stadium saw Town drop to fourth but move closer on points to second position. |
Magilton Injured Wed 19th Jan 2000 14:42 Town midfielder Jim Magilton is a big doubt for Saturday's crucial clash with Bolton at the Reebok Stadium. He will have a scan on the groin injury which has kept him out on several occasions this season. Worryingly also out with a similar injury is his usual deputy Jermaine Wright. If neither are fit for Saturday then Town could look to Mickey Stockwell to play in the midfield alongside Matt Holland, who should be fit after his foot injury, and James Scowcroft with Gary Croft or Fabian Wilnis coming in at right wing back. |
